About the Job:

Employee works in various phases of systems analysis providing information to the Indiana Office of Technology, when necessary, for INDOT’s internal and external user privileges, hardware and software requests.  Employee serves as a Security/Telecommunications Coordinator for Central Office.  Employee deals with management of systems security, telecommunication requests and issues, and computer equipment requests and issues.  This position communicates with an outside and inside customer base, as well as trouble shoot and follow up on technical issues.  This position has the authorization to submit IOT helpdesk tickets requesting changes affecting INDOT user privileges for Central Office as well as for the Districts.  This position provides supports to new Security Coordinator positions at the Districts.  Employee works in the Management Information Systems Division at INDOT under the guidance of the Information Technology Manager, or other higher-level staff.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

•    Performs duties as a Security/Telecommunication Coordinator for the Central Office;
•    Provides support to all Security Coordinators at the Districts;
•    Assists in the support of new Security Coordinators at the Districts;
•    Manages and maintains the Security Coordinator process flow documentation;
•    Orders and Authorizes all cell devices via the Indiana Office of Technology for all of INDOT;
•    Leads in devising or modifying procedures to solve problems considering telecommunication and computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results monitoring the specific Service Level Agreements for IOT;
•    Manages the delivery of technical business solutions and products to customers;
•    Participates in meeting expectations of customers, peers, vendors, and management;
•    Supports the Bill Buddy application for all of INDOT, dealing with the inventory of assets for all INDOT employees.
•    Assists with technical support with the INDOT Technical Applications Pathway application;
•    Establishes and maintains strategic partnerships with assigned external or internal customers in order to help them meet their business and technical needs;
•    Works with other MIS staff on security/telecom coordination matters as well as IOT staff;
•    Recommends and facilitates quality improvement efforts;
•    Ensure information security standards are protected when requesting accounts for new, remote, contractors and consultants for all applications, small to enterprise scale in Central Office
•    Perform periodic review when requesting updates to existing user account permissions to folders due to employee status change 
•    Ensure maximum confidentiality when requesting deletion of accounts due to retirement, resignation, termination or transfer to other agencies.
•    Manage directory permissions for Central Office users to ensure that sensitive data is protected and public data is accessible
•    Manage user requests for state employees and external contractors,  and ensures that they get what they need to perform their specific duties
•    Facilitate end users communication with external contractors and vendors in matters such as facilitating transfer of data via FTP
•    Direct requests for new software or program installs to ensure budgeted approval by finance officer.
•    Manage to ensure proper approval regarding (Security) when requesting access to PeopleSoft, M5, ERMS and all high profile applications.
•    Lead the process for hardware (PC, Monitor, Laptop) for new employees to ensure employee has the tools to work on his or her start date
•    Liaison to end users to determine needs telecom needs.
•    Conduct walkthroughs with IOT and external contractors to determine the exact nature of the telecom work
•    Request work and oversee work to completion and implementation to make sure end users are satisfied with the results
•    Request Data jack activation, deactivation or repair for new employee or employee moves.
•    Request phone replacement, moves or change from analog to digital business set phone.
•    Request Voice, Web or Conferencing to set up new accounts

What You'll Need for Success:

•    Associated degree or two (2) years relevant experience preferred.  Areas of concentration such Computer and Information Sciences, Computer Networking or Telecommunication Information Systems.
•    Advanced knowledge of INDOT organization’s business systems and IT industry requirements;  
•    Advanced knowledge of technical problems and solutions as they relate to the current and future business environment;  
•    Advanced knowledge of the IOT Helpdesk Ticketing System VM Ware;  
•    Strong understanding of information security management tools, policies and standards;
•    Knowledge of security standards pertains to IOT security framework;  
•    Advanced knowledge of creating accounts, updating existing accounts or deleting accounts;  
•    Working knowledge on changing file and directory access. 
•    Working knowledge of INDOT phone system including data jack activation and deactivation.  
•    Knowledge of hardware (PC, Monitor, Laptop).   
•    Ability to implement IOT information security standards.   
•    Ability to understand and apply basic computer logic to work.  
•    Ability to work effectively with a wide range of users, including, technical support, applications development, end users and management.  
•    Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with internal and external clients.
•    Ability to train and manage diverse human resources.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.
