Salary Information:

This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $34,398.00.


About the Job:

You will perform custodial, building cleaning duties, and minor/simplified maintenance and repairs to building(s), equipment and grounds at Stout Field. 

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Performs general cleaning duties including, but not limited to dusting, mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing all types of floors; shampooing and vacuuming carpets, rugs and upholstery; cleaning, dusting and polishing furniture; emptying non-hazardous and recyclable waste containers; washing walls, windows, blinds, baseboards; cleaning mirrors, coffee makers, microwaves, light fixtures, refrigerators, dishwashers, exhaust vents, etc.
  • Cleans and sanitizes restrooms disinfecting fixtures, commodes, urinals, sinks, showers, mirrors, curtains, drains, walls, water fountains, etc.; changes towels and washcloths, restocks paper towels, toilet tissue and other items as needed.
  • Performs grounds maintenance work including, but not limited to mowing, trimming, fertilizing, leaf removal, trash pick-up, snow and ice removal, and minor repair of parking areas, roads, and walks.
  • Operates a variety of power equipment such as vacuum sweeper, buffer, carpet cleaner, snow blower, etc. 
  • Performs related duties such as transporting materials and equipment needed for the maintenance and upkeep of the facility and maintaining stock rooms.
  • May conduct monthly fire extinguisher inspections; and must be familiar with the Fire Evacuation Plan and the location and proper use of fire extinguishers.

What You'll Need for Success:

  • One (1) year full-time work experience.
  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE).
  • Thorough knowledge of the methods, practices, and materials used in custodial and building cleaning.
  • General knowledge and understanding of various occupational health and safety rules and regulations.
  • Ability to use and safely operate a variety of equipment such as powered floor buffers, vacuum sweepers, carpet cleaners, mowers, weed eaters, snow blowers, and similar types of equipment used in the cleaning and maintenance of buildings and grounds.
  • Ability to follow instructions regarding proper use and care of powered equipment.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow instructions concerning safety precautions and the proper use, storage and disposal of hazardous substances and chemicals used in the workplace.
  • Ability to effectively plan work schedule and work independently.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Indiana Driver’s License. 

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.
