About the Indiana Department of Administration (IDOA): 

IDOA centrally manages activities relating to state purchasing, the vehicle fleet, state travel, real estate leases, property disposition, and the Government Center Campus, among others. In addition to agency support, the department provides assistance to minority, women, and veteran business enterprises interested in state contracting opportunities. Through its activities, IDOA helps to ensure the smooth function of state government, finding efficient and effective solutions to government-wide needs.


Salary Statement

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

 

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

  • Examine damaged vehicles and estimate repair costs
  • Repair or replace damaged body parts as needed
  • Perform body repairs using the proper filler and procedures
    • Sand repair areas
    • Cut and weld in new body parts, when necessary
    • Apply primer and block sand the primed areas
    • Repair or replace defective mechanical parts
  • Paint and blend the vehicle/specific parts to match
    • Prepare the entire vehicle and/or specific parts for the paint process
    • Apply sealer to the repaired areas
    • Paint and apply clear coat to the repaired areas, and follow paint baking/curing procedures
  • Perform structural repairs when necessary
  • Perform duties specified on work orders with efficiency and in accordance with IDOA standards
  • Maintain vehicle records by recording repairs
  • Contain costs by evaluating repair and parts options
  • Assist with vehicle/operator drop-off and pick-up

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirement to be considered for employment:

  • Three (3) years experience as an automotive body/collision repair technician; or accredited college/vocational training in a related field preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of collision repair procedures, paint procedures, materials, equipment, and tools
  • Ability to use frame repair, measuring, and alignment equipment
  • Practical knowledge of appropriate safety precautions and the ability to wear protective equipment, including a respirator.
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Must have a valid Indiana Driver's License
  • Ability to perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
