Role Overview:
The Background Check Coordinator supports the Background Check Unit in applying uniform standards and procedures to complete and evaluate DCS background checks. The unit produces consistent and timely evaluation of FBI and State fingerprint-based criminal history checks, accurate determination of any child abuse or neglect history, and communication of findings to the appropriate parties.
You will assist in ensuring that background checks are consistently completed and evaluated in compliance with state laws, administrative rules, and DCS policies. You will advise on policies and procedures regarding the results of fingerprint-based criminal history checks, child abuse and neglect checks, local criminal court record checks, and national sex offender registry checks. You may also collect and submit criminal and Child Protective Services waivers.
This position is in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the central DCS offices.
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $39,000 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are:
- Research and compile information on specific aspects of the program, such as procedures, needs, and policies.
- Answer basic customer questions about program policies and procedures.
- Establish, organize, and maintain current and historical files related to the program.
- Collect information for preparing program reports, developing applications, preparing budget allocations, and/or purchasing consultative services.
- Maintain, organize, and monitor program assets.
- Schedule, prepare, and disseminate all program-related training materials.
