    About the Job

 

The Finance Clerk works in the Collection section withing the BMV Financial Operations Division creating collections, processing payments for collections in cooperation with collections vendor, and assisting customers and all branch employees with collection transactions.

A day in the life:

 

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Answers phone calls from customers, license branch employees, collections vendor, and other agency departments regarding customer collections/refunds.
  • Creates collections upon notification of rejected payments from banking and credit card agencies.
  • Works with collenctions vendor to process suspension and payments for collections.
  • Researches transaction errors in STARS and correction the transactions, if needed.
  • Instructs the license branch employees on the proper procedures to perform accurate refunds, collection, and referrals to collections vendor.
  • Open, review, and distribute mail to appropriate parties within the department.
  • Filing monthly bank statement, making copies, delivering receipts to other departments.
  • Pulling statements and making copies for Audit when requested.

What we're looking for:

 

  • Four (4) years full-time experience in related areas.
  • Considerable knowledge of collection management and financial management procedures.
  • Advanced knowledge of BMV policies and procedures.
  • Advanced knowledge of agency organization and function.
  • Extensive knowledge of STARS database system.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to solve relatively complex collection transaction problems.
  • Ability to prepare and interpret reports.
  • Ability to reconcile discrepencies in accounts.
  • Ability to develop effective work relationships.
  • Abiliity to work in a team environment and independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to provide excellent internal and external customer service.
