Incumbent is the Director of Contracts within the Procurement/Contract Division who manages the administration of all BMV/C contracts. The position is responsible for enforcing contract requirements.The Director of Contracts works closely with the Executive Director of Contracts and Procurement and the team to ensure all contracts are tracked from request by the line of business through drafting, internal collaboration, signature, approval by agencies with oversight from execution through expiration/termination. Incumbent will provide administrative support to the Executive Director of Contracts and Procurement and may be called upon to serve as Acting Director in the Executive Director's absence.

A Day in the Life:

 

The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

  • Responsible for preparation, negotiation, and administration of contracts
  • Champion contract policy and procedure revisions and process improvement
  • Ensure efficient and effective performance during the contract lifecycle including interpretation of contractual requirements, risk mitigation and management, change management, and conflict resolution
  • Ensure maintenance of appropriate information and documentation related to contracts
  • Ensure compliance of all contracts, memorandum of understanding, and other areas of responsibility
  • Participate in request for proposal preparation process
  • Review, interpret, and recommend acceptance, revisions, and exceptions to contracts
  • Engage with lines of business to conduct reviews and next steps for contracts and memorandum of understanding
  • Oversee and coach contract staff
  • Collaboration with legal team

What You'll Need for Success:

 

This person must have the following requirements to be considered for employment: 

  • Must have strong organization skills, ability to prioritize,and multi-task.
  • Must have leadership, presentation, teamwork and quantitative skills.
  • Must have strong business writing skills.
  • Able to meet critical deadlines and work under pressure and timelines.
  • Must have experience in vendor management, problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Must be accomplished in written and verbal presentation preparation and delivery.
  • Must have strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Able to exercise independent judgement on a daily basis while carrying out the duties of the position.
  • Must exhibit a strong attention to detail.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly in Excel, Word and Outlook. Experience in electronic contracting a plus.
  • Undergraduate degree is required; Four years work experience in contract administration may be substituted for the undergraduate degree

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role provides direct supervision for one or more staff members.
