About the Job:

Incumbent works within the Department of Public Works performing Electrical engineering services related to building and facilities electrical services with a high level of responsibility.  Incumbents will have the ability to handle sensitive issues dealing with agency personnel and vendors, supporting the decisions of upper management. 

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows

  • Preparation of specifications and detailed drawings of such systems.
  • Provide engineering design and necessary calculations for proper design of various electrical, security, and CCTV systems.
  • Provide project management of the construction of in-house and out-of-house design projects.     
  • Assist other in-house disciplines as required for projects.
  • Manage projects of "out of house" designers.
  • Performance of other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need for Success:

  • Knowledge of all electrical, security, and CCTV systems of buildings and facility maintenance.
  • Familiarity with associated codes and standards
  • Familiarity with and understanding of architectural and engineering terms and nomenclature
  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing with people of varying levels of knowledge and experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, establish priorities, and process documents
  • Self-directed and confident in decision-making ability
  • Demonstrated ability in the use of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and AutoCAD or Rivet as well as a willingness to learn additional software programs.
  • Must easily adjust and adhere to changes in policies and procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role provides direct supervision for one or more staff members.
