This role is typically filled with a starting salary of $39,000.

About the Job:

The Accountant 4 position improves the processing of unemployment taxes by providing the technical skills for directing payments, depositing payments and providing assistance to the supervisor with any business need that may arise. This allows payments to be deposited in a timely and efficient manner to Indiana's employers' unemployment insurance accounts. Also in this position you will open and process mail, help qualty check keyed tax/benefit recoupment batches, be in contact with other departments reguarly for payment assistance, run/interoffice mail payments that are not meant for IDWD to the department they belong to, generate letters and prepare payments/documents to be sent back when the payment/document does not belong to IDWD, manage the team when the supervisor is absent, train employees on job duties and procedures, and assist employees with questions regarding payment lookups. Secondary duties include assisting with tax mail work items and pick up payments from the lobby and write receipts for employers and/or claimants.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

  • Deposits all checks by remote deposit, balance with all worksheets.
  • Prints Remote capture reports, email reports, send BR amounts to E-filing specialists.
  • Assist with the processing of routine and miscellaneous checks when needed.
  • Open and process mail.  
  • Account number research.
  • Training and assisting employees with procedures for processing.
  • Assist supervisor as a Team Lead.
  • Assist employees with questions regarding payment lookups.
  • Generate letters and prepare payments/documents to be sent back when the payment/document does not belong to IDWD
  • Run/interoffice mail payments that do not belong to IDWD to the department they belong to.
  • Performing secondary duties, when necessary, assist with tax work items and pick up payments from the lobby and write receipts for employers and/or claimants.

This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.
