Role Overview:

This position will work in the AASHTOWare unit in the Legacy Systems Products section of the Information Technology Division for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT).  You will be responsible for the analysis, configuration, development of applications, and support/maintenance of the existing applications under the AASHTOWare software suite.  You will utilize SQL with Oracle and database terminology as well as support of Python programmed agency configurations.

 

Location

This position is located in INDOT’s Indianapolis Central Office, Information Technology Department.

 

Salary:

This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $61,022.00. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.

 

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:  

  • Conduct thorough research, fact-finding, and analysis of user needs and problems required to develop and maintain information systems of moderate complexity. 
  • Assist in analyzing business processes and workflows to determine how applications can be optimized to meet organizational goals. 
  • Prepare project feasibility studies. 
  • Prepare user requirements, functional design, physical design, and other relevant system design components. 
  • Formulate system scope, project cost, time estimates, and human resource and equipment requirements for implementation of new application software or enhancements to existing application software systems. 
  • Assist in coordinating tasks, managing timelines and ensuring project deliverables are met. 
  • Provide technical support for application systems, including diagnosing and resolving issues.  
  • Designs, codes, and debugs new application software programs and/or makes enhancements to existing application software programs of all levels. 
  • Test and troubleshoot system interfaces to ensure smooth data flow between applications. 
  • Provide complete documentation for new or modified information systems and/or application software programs. 
  • Mentor and provides guidance and training to new and lower level staff. 
  • Monitor completed application software systems to ensure proper execution and performance.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirement to be considered for employment: 

  • Bachelor's degree and/or 2-4 years of relevant experience. 
  • Working knowledge of new systems design techniques, information technology equipment, operation and capabilities. 
  • Advanced knowledge of information systems design principles. 
  • Specialized knowledge of application development software languages. 
  • Thorough knowledge of policies, standards, procedures, and techniques used for application development. 
  • Familiarity  
  • Advanced knowledge of information technology equipment, operation, and capabilities. 
  • Advanced knowledge of both system and business applications and competent to work on most phases of applications systems analysis and programming activities of those systems. 
  • Ability to perform problem solving and analytical analysis. 
  • Effectively communicate both orally and in writing. 
  • Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
