About the Job:

This individual is involved with a variety of executive duties within a state agency or facility involving a high degree of discretion in interpretation, application and execution of all agency or department policies and programs.

This position manages the Survey Section while providing oversight in the collection, preparation and dissemination of survey data and is responsible for stamping in-house Survey documents including, but not limited to Location Control Route Surveys, Electronic Field Books, Legal Descriptions.  

Supervises assigned survey section personnel; determines methods and procedures necessary to obtain requested field survey data; schedules field survey activities in support of assigned projects; monitors work and safety practices of survey field crews, reviews and certifies all survey field notes prior to submittal; review, prepare and/or certify route survey plats;

 

 

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Represents agency, facility, or departments in a variety of situations with other departments, facilities, the general public and special interest groups;
  • Reviews total department or agency organizational structure and functions and prepares changes to promote efficiency and effectiveness;
  • Administers staff functions in support of program areas;
  • Prepares special reports on alternative methods of achieving new program responsibilities as related to the agency’s goals and missions;
  • Prepares administrative rules and procedures for executive administrator and/or board or commission;
  • Follows up on plans, programs and procedures to ensure progress and accomplishments;

  • Thorough knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and methodology of administrative management;
  • Thorough knowledge of department change and programs;
  • Specialized knowledge of state government administrative structures;
  • Ability to coordinate and motivate diverse, professional and support personnel;
  • Ability to be creative in developing alternatives to meet department’s needs;
  • Effectively communicate, both orally and in writing;
  • Ability to maintain cooperative work relationships.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role provides direct supervision for one or more staff members.
