This position is typically filled at a salary of $41,496.00 annually. Internal employees are subject to the promotion and demotion policies.

About the Job

A highly visible and significant ground floor project management position that provides challenging opportunities to lead engineering and development teams for road, bridge, and infrastructure improvements. This position is responsible for developing and delivering projects on-time and on-budget, while working within a multi-disciplined, diverse group of project management professionals. This position is responsible for managing scope, budget and schedule for small projects or projects within a large project.

A Day in the Life
  • Manages the project team through all phases of project planning, execution, and closeout consistent with established project delivery processes to meet the scope, schedule, budget and other specified requirements;
  • Completes the scope of work while ensuring INDOT’s quality, financial, risk management and policy expectations are met;
  • As a project manager on a larger project, may work under the direction and mentorship of the lead project manager;
  • Responsible for overall work progress and technical performance on project;
  • Responsible for all communication efforts during project delivery to ensure project success;
  • Reviews and understands all functional (ROW, environmental, design, utility, etc..) requirements to ensure expectations are clear and establish predictable workloads;
  • Facilitate cross-functional engagement with design and construction;
  • Performs other related duties as required.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management, engineering technology, construction management, public administration, business management, or related field – equivalent combination of work experience and/or education may be substituted;
What You'll Need For Success
  • Advanced experience with project scope and schedule is defined and managed consistent with the project development process;
  • Ability to establish and manages project budget with understanding of all financial implications/issues;
  • General knowledge of change management with the ability to minimizes and consistently manage changes to the scope of a project;
  • Ability to project risks and applies resources to minimize, monitor and/or control without delays;
  • Practical knowledge of project standards with rural, suburban and urban areas;
  • Familiarity with requirements of the Uniform Relocation Assistance & Real Property Acquisition Policy Act;
  • Ability to manage minor conflicts with or without reimbursements, municipal utilities;
  • Full range of experience managing environmental documents;
  • Working knowledge of lower level permit requirements;
  • Ability to engage project specific public stakeholders;
  • Experience managing projects of low-moderate complexity and dollar value, generally < $5.0 million;
  • Ensues compliance with contract terms and conditions;
  • Effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.

If this is an Intermittent position, the position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
