Summary/Objective:

This position directs and manages all district maintenance support operations, ensuring all activities are planned, coordinated, and completed in the safest and most efficientmanner possible. This position provides support for the Maintenance section and District.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Manages and coordinates equipmentmaterials, training and personnel to safely remove snow and ice in a timelymanner to reduce the storms impact on themotoring public;
• Ensures all required training is complete prior to upcoming activities;
• Identifies and provides training to INDOT supervisors and employees to improve their on-the-job performance to regularly deliver quality service to our customers in a timely, well-communicated manner, within budget, and at the lowest possible cost;
• Counsels and disciplines subordinates as required;
• Makes recommendations to the Highway Maintenance Director concerning, hiring, firing and promotions;
• Sets performance standards and develops means to assure that these standards are met; and,
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in related field and a minimum of (5) years of experience in highway construction or related experience and a minimum of (2) years of experience as a group or project leader. One year of relevant experience in addition to the minimum of 7 years of work experience may be substituted for each year of required education;
• Must possess valid driver's license;
• Knowledge of public relations,OSHA safety practices, employee training and development, supervisory principles and techniques;
• Ability to comprehend and interpret data, exercise independent judgment and solve problems; and,
• Broad knowledge of department policies and ability to effectively communicate

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role provides direct supervision for one or more staff members.
