This position's primary responsibiltiy is to provide support to the District Traffic Engineer in the planning development process of traffic and safety related projects.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Conducts system screening and detailed crash analysis to support programming of locations for safety improvement projects.
  • Scores projects to submit as part of the annual "call for projects"
  • Assists with scoping of safety related and signal modernization projects.
  • Reviews traffic impact studies submitted as part of commercial drive permits.
  • Assists with design review of traffic items on projects and permits.
  • Prepares requests for exceptions to the Intersate Highway Congestion Policy.
  • Coordinates the preparation of traffic related agreements.
  • Conducts a variety of traffic inverstigations.
  • May represent the Traffic Engineering section at various meetings, field checks, etc.

  • Civil Engineer with a Bachelor of Science in a related field.
  • Must possess a valid Indiana State Drivers License.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret a variety of civil engineering principles, techniques, procedures, criteria, plans and specifications and related data.  Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid engineering/technical conclusions; use statistical analysis, cooperate with coworkers on groupd projects, handle routine ans sensitive contacts with government officials, consultants, contractors and general public.
