About Putnamville Correctional Facility:
As a part of the Indiana Department of Correction, the Putnamville Correctional Facility promotes public safety by providing meaningful, effective opportunities for successful re-entry. The Putnamville Correctional Facility is a medium security Correctional facility for adult males. The Putnamville Correctional Facility is located in Greencastle, Indiana. The Putnamville Correctional Facility, established in 1914, was known for nearly 70 years as the Indiana State Farm and has been the recipient of several environmental awards. The facility offers educational and work training programs, including training in coding and visual and audio programming through The Last Mile, and other programs focused on education and parenting.
Role Overview:
As a Maintenance Foreman at the Putnamville Correctional Facility you will be responsible for supervising incarcerated individuals and working as a part of a team in a medium security Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) facility for adult males. During a typical 7.5 hour shift, you will maintain the security of the assigned workers as well as the safety of staff and incarcerated individuals, while ensuring daily work orders are processed on schedule. You will work 10 total 7.5 hrs shifts during the 14-day pay period. Some overtime can be available when necessary.
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
- Solicit cost estimates or cost proposals.
- Estimate costs and work hours for maintenance projects.
- Oversee and participates in preventive maintenance and repairs of facilities
- Maintain accountability of materials, tools, equipment, and vehicles.
- Ensure compliance, of self and assigned personnel, with all appropriate protective and safety requirements
- Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.
- Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.
- Workday attendance at assigned worksite(s) is an essential function of this position.

What You'll Need for Success:
This person must have the following requirements to be considered for employment:
- Broad knowledge of electrical systems, carpentry, plumbing and painting trades.
- Ability to plan, schedule and supervise job sites.
- Ability to fill in for other foreman to ensure the operation of the department.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and other remediation plans and documents.
- Thorough knowledge of standard practices, processes, materials, procedures, and the ability to use tools and equipment of the various trades, such as carpentry, plumbing and electrical.
- Thorough knowledge of the OSHA standards, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), occupational hazards and safety precautions required of the various trade areas.
- Ability to plan and estimate project proposals in terms of equipment, man hours and costs.
- Ability to endure exposure to inclement weather.
- Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow.
- Ability to effectively give feedback, provide guidance or corrective action, coach, and develop employee skillsets.
- Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

- Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
