Role Overview:
Performs facilities maintenance and repair on buildings, support machines (air compressors, power washers, HVAC, etc.), and grounds as needed. Collect receipts, day cards, estimates, invoices, and various other related data required for record of all facilities work.
Salary:
This position traditionally starts at an hourly rate of $18.00 an hour. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.
Location:
This position is located in INDOT’s Fort Wayne area.
A Day in the Life:
The essential elements of the job duties:
- Assist Other technicians in detailed maintenance and repair on facilities structures, including but not limited to unit buildings, salt storage facilities, shop and wash bays, and various outbuildings.
- Assist Other technicians in maintenance on facilities related machinery, including but not limited to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, OWS systems, air/water support systems, and incinerators.
- In partnership with other technicians, responsible for maintaining parts/materials/equipment inventory and facilities storage.
- Research and organize details regarding facilities structures, support equipment, and proper safety policies and procedures.
- Must provide outstanding customer service to and professional interaction with key stakeholders, vendors, and customers.
- Performs other, miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

- Ability to understand verbal instructions.
- Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
- Ability to operate vacuums and other related equipment.
- Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
- Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
- Ability to understand written and verbal communications.
Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:
This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period
