Role Overview

You will serve as a senior engineering design draftsman to assist engineers in the planning, preparation, and design of such visual drawings as blueprints, charts, graphs, and maps. You will draw rough and detailed scale plans and calculate estimated quantities of materials needed for a particular project.  You must be able to obtain and hold a Secret Security Clearance from the Federal Government. 


Salary Statement

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $34,216.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

 

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

  • Implement Electronic Records Library Project consisting of archival, organization and 
  • of hardcopy blueprints and other Quality Department Records. 
  • Manage Project Status Database to include collecting, updating, data entry and develop 
  • new operational processes. 
  • Research and compile technical information associated with the projects, to provide 
  • inputs to the detailed design and construction stage of projects in all areas of engineering. 
  • Interpret drawings and implements revisions provided by engineers. 
  • Oversee the close-out process. Assists with final records such as RF is, close-out records, 
  • warranties, and evaluate information to ensure compliance with contract documents. 
  • Track section taskers and due dates, ensuring action items completes on time. 
  • Develop tracking metrics for both pre-award and awarded design and construction 
  • contracts. 
  • Create and maintain contract management project database. Implements and enforces 
  • standardized project updates for weekly status reports. 
  • Responsible for maintenance of computer software and other technologies. 
  • Analyze and synthetize data, maintain charts and track licenses. 
  • Knowledge of clerical procedures involved in the gathering and compiling of statistical data and the preparation of reports for design and construction progress. 
  • Working knowledge of computer software systems and data entry procedures, to include Microsoft Office suite. 
  • Interpret leadership intent and requirements with minimal supervision, then develop contract priorities for project managers to meet mission needs 
  • Effective communication skills.  
  • Schedule and attend engineering services meetings, as required by Engineer Services Officer or Project Managers, maintains accurate meeting minutes for dissemination to concerned parties. 
  • Perform duties such assisting program managers in designing and executing contracted energy conservation projects to include completing design requirements, coordinating with contractors and customers to ensure minimal impact to customers, and conducting construction site visits to ensure progress of work. 
  • Conducting analysis of energy conservation by reviewing utility bills, engineer utility estimates, and on-site monitoring. 
  • Developing energy cost-savings measures in both construction design and on-site modifications to reduce utility costs.

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment: 

  • Must have as a minimum an Associate Degree in Architectural Drafting, Design Technology or have documented an equivalent of four years’ experience in the engineering field and display a practical knowledge of mathematics, geometry, and trigonometry. 
  • Extensive knowledge of basic operations, services, and activities of assigned engineering programs. 
  • Extensive knowledge of principles and practices of contract administration, negotiation, and management techniques. 
  • High level of proficiency in office systems i.e., MS Word, Excel, Adobe, and data management systems. 
  • Ability to obtain a favorable military clearance to obtain an access card.  
  • Basic project level budget estimation, preparation, monitoring and control. ​
