About the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites

This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $26,010.

About The Job:

The Program Assistant – Angel Mounds SHS will assist the Program Developer in the development and facilitation of programming on site as well as manage the maintenance of the interpretive center building. This position will report to the Program Developer.

What We're Looking For:
  • High School Degree required
A Day In The LIfe:
  • Assists in the development and facilitation of site programming, including but not limited to summer camps, public programming and school programming
  • Recruits, trains, schedules and acknowledges all volunteers for general and special events, which includes field work days with brush clean up, trail maintenance, etc.
  • Maintains volunteer records, such as contact information, skill sets, and hours which includes keeping the site administrative assistant up to date on any changes that need to be made in Constant Contact and Vlogistic databases
  • Responsible for the care and cleaning of all public spaces on the site
  • Works with other staff members to ensure visitor facilities are neat, clean, and presentable
  • Ensures paper products are organized and ordered in a timely manner for any large events
  • Submits HOBO data logger records each month to ensure climate control standards are being met within all buildings on site
  • Assists and carries out projects on the grounds involving repair, restoration, and preservation of historic elements of the site, including historic buildings and earthen mounds
  • Rotates with other staff members to staff weekends and special events as needed
What You Need For Success:
  • Must be abled to lift 25 pounds
  • Must be able to evaluate and assimilate information
  • Must be able to solve problems and to negotiate with individuals who are under stress during grounds projects and special events
  • Must have basic computer skills to execute e-mail and word processing
  • Must have detailed knowledge about the historic qualities of the specific site
  • Must be able to manage and supervise volunteers in a fair and professional manner.
  • Must be able to handle maintenance equipment and tools in an informed and safe manner
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.
