Role Overview

The Coaching and Mentoring Indiana (CAMI) Specialist coaches and mentors supervisors who participate in the CAMI program.  You will promote safety and permanency strategies through supportive and collaborative guidance as participants enhance their coaching and mentoring skills.  You will conduct case reviews and assessments, schedule coaching sessions, and provide real-time verbal and written feedback.  The Specialist creates safe environments for individuals to share their experiences, challenges, and barriers as they improve their problem-solving and supervisor skills.  You will also maintain frequent communication with CAMI leadership to ensure fidelity and continuity across the program.  You may participate in other DCS efforts to assist staff in their job duties.

 

This position is located in Evansville, Indiana, and will serve staff in Vanderburgh and surrounding counties.

 

Salary:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $47,320.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Collaborate and support Family Case Manager Supervisors to enhance their skills in case review.
  • Identify coaching points and utilize unguided cues to stimulate discussion on planning, case assessment, time frames, completion metrics, and next steps.
  • Adjust coaching strategies to individual learning styles.
  • Utilize inventories to assess learning and communication styles.
  • Utilize SmartSheets to complete forms and maintain data.
  • Maintain written and verbal communication with CAMI program participants.
  • Manage and organize schedules for CAMI participants.
  • Review case histories to identify trends and patterns in service delivery and outcomes.
  • Complete thorough case assessments and SafeACT call reviews, including completion of CAMI survey tool.
  • Participate in debriefing sessions with CAMI Leadership to discuss reviews, participant progress, etc.
  • Lead coaching sessions for specific case assessments and SafeACT calls, providing modeling of the CAMI principles.
  • Coach and mentor participants as they complete coaching sessions, including both verbal and written feedback.
  • Observe CAMI Team coaching sessions, providing verbal and written feedback to team members.
  • Participate in SafeAct Quality Assurance training.

What You'll Need for Success:

Preferred experience:

  • 2+ years of Case Management experience.
  • Coaching and mentoring experience.
  • Individual and team training and participation.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams).
  • Experience with verbal and written feedback.

 

Credentials:

  • Fulfill one of the following education/experience requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree; or 
    • Associate degree with a minimum of two (2) years of human services job experience; or
    • Completion of thirty (30) college credit hours from an accredited institution with a minimum of four (3) years of human services job experience; or
    • A minimum of at least five (4) years of human services job experience

 

Additional qualifications:

  • Able to maintain a standard work schedule of Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
  • Proficient typing and data entry skills.
  • Ability to facilitate virtual meetings.
  • Effective time management.
  • Regularly displays well-developed critical thinking skills.
  • Strong ability to provide written and verbal feedback.
  • Advanced knowledge of principles and practices of social work, casework, sociology, and group and individual counseling, including new methods and theories of treatment.
  • Thorough knowledge of state and/or federal laws, regulations, guidelines, and standards affecting child protection services, foster care, family preservation, and adoption.
  • Thorough knowledge of related social services programs and ability to coordinate work among programs. 
  • Specialized knowledge of the interrelationships of the various behavioral sciences as they affect care and treatment of patients/clients and/or objectives of social work projects.
  • Ability to investigate and interview alleged victims and perpetrators of child abuse or neglect appropriately and effectively.
  • Ability to formulate and monitor project guidelines or treatment plans.
  • Ability to prepare clear, accurate reports.
  • Ability to work with families of diverse cultural/ethnic backgrounds with sensitivity to differences in child-rearing practices, relationships, and needs.
  • Ability to work with children with special needs, such as mental or emotional conditions, foster families, homes willing to accept those children, and the professionals who can appropriately provide services to them.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment while managing crises, including those involving confrontational, aggressive adults being investigated for child abuse or neglect.
  • Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

 

You must satisfy the following requirements to continue employment: 

  • Must maintain a valid Driver's license. 

Supervision Responsibilities:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
