About Evansville Psychiatric Children's Center:

Evansville Psychiatric Children’s Center (EPCC) takes an interdisciplinary approach that provides strategies for the child’s biological, psychological and social treatment at the same time. All of our staff go through many hours of training to each play their important part in the approach. Youth are learning by two main methods, modeling and teaching, through therapeutic relationships established with the treatment staff.

About the Job:

As the Maintenance Repair Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing, directing, and participating in the maintenance and repair work on all buildings, facilities, and equipment owned by the state. You will supervise and manage the day-to-day operation of the maintenance trades section of the maintenance department and ensures preventative maintenance and maintenance repairs are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner. You will plan, organize, schedule, assign, and review maintenance work while performing a variety of responsible duties related to the supervision of maintenance repair staff.  

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

  • Ensure the proper operation, maintenance, and repair of a variety of maintenance activity 
  • Assess work orders for prioritization of repair/replacement in accordance with policy 
  • Ensure all safety standards and precautions are followed by all subordinate staff  
  • Direct and participate in the maintenance and repair of a variety of structures  
  • Ensure the proper operation, maintenance, and repair of a variety of heavy equipment  
  • Solicit vendors for information and make decisions on purchasing of materials and supplies  
  • Ensure the daily workflow of maintenance trades by ensuring that staff is meeting the established goals and objectives 
  • Inspect buildings and grounds to determine repairs required, prepares work requests, and estimates materials needed 
  • Approve maintenance repairs and supervises new construction made by maintenance trades staff 
  • Provide long range scheduling for all maintenance trades 
  • Prepare cost estimates for maintenance repairs and new in-house construction 
  • Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development. 
  • Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees.  Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.

What You'll Need for Success:

​This person must have the following requirements to be considered for employment: 

  • Knowledge of a variety of maintenance trades (carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, etc.). 
  • Knowledge of basic occupational hazards, safety precautions, and sanitary regulations. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing. 
  • Ability to operate a variety of heavy equipment. 
  • Ability to plan, understand, and interpret detailed plans, specifications, and blueprints. 
  • Ability to make long range plans, schedule preventative maintenance, and seasonal maintenance as well as prioritize routine and emergency plans. 
  • Ability to interpret procurement processes to request tools, materials, and vendor contracts. 
  • Ability to coordinate maintenance, repair, and construction activities into an efficient operation. 
  • Ability to maintain records and prepare a variety of reports. 
  • Ability to keep abreast of changes and innovations in the field of building management and operation, maintenance and repair techniques, and utility functions.  
  • Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow. 
  • Ability to effectively give feedback, provide guidance or corrective action, coach, and develop employee skillsets. 

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role provides direct supervision for one or more staff members.
This role provides supervision for offenders and requires a high level of judgment and care.
