Part Time Position Hours 8am to 8pm Saturday & Sunday May be required to work Holidays and a 4pm to 8pm schedule will be open thru the week. Minimum hours will be 24 and maximum would be 28 hours.


The Switchboard Operator serves as initial customer service contact for the general public and ensures that all mail is processed, routed and received on a daily basis.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Greets visitors and provides routine information.
  • Maintains a current telephone directory of patients, residents and staff.
  • Operates a paging system or citizens band radio to locate staff and relay messages.
  • Performs a variety of clerical duties, such as maintaining files and records of visitors, personnel on duty and on leave and patient or resident passes.
  • Dates and sorts incoming mail and folds and stamps outgoing mail.
  • Collates material as directed.
  • Assists in the preparation and collection of monthly telephone bills.
  • Becomes involved in an institutional emergency by placing calls for fire, police and ambulance equipment and alerting supervisory personnel.

Preferred Experience:
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to gather, collate and classify information about data, people or things; define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; write letters, papers and reports; handle sensitive and face to face inquiries and contacts with general public.
  • Considerable computer skills with Microsoft Office Software required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.

If this is an Intermittent position, the position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
