Salary Statement:

This position traditionally starts at $29,640 per year and may be commensurate with education and work experience.

About the Job:

You will perform a full range of electrical maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical equipment and controls.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this roles are as follows:

  • Installs new power lines, panels, electrical circuits, and both indoor and outdoor lights
  • Installs, changes and repairs light fixtures, receptacles and ballasts
  • Plans and lays out work from drawings and blue prints
  • Repairs motors, appliances, kitchen equipment, alarm systems, valves and regulators
  • Conducts preventative maintenance program on all electrical components
  • Must annually complete and pass the IDOC Distance Learning and Crew Supervisor Course to draw and/or supervise an IDOC crew as needed

What You'll Need for Success:

  • High school diploma or HSE
  • Extensive knowledge of electricity and the ability to work with high voltage systems
  • Specialized knowledge of and ability to apply the National Electric Code (NEC), local and state codes, and Life-Safety codes
  • Ability to use a variety of specialized tools and electrical measuring equipment, such as ammeters, high voltage probes, digital multimeters, conduit threaders and benders
  • Ability to install, diagnose, and repair electrical wiring
  • Ability to read and understand electrical blueprints
  • Ability to legally and safely operate maintenance vehicles such as hi-lifts, bucket trucks, and back hoes
  • Desired qualifications include a working knowledge of HVAC
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.
