Salary Information:

Salary for this position typically starts at $29,640.00 annually.

About the Job

Incumbent performs facility and grounds maintenance, while operating mowers, bus hogs, batwings, weed eaters and supervise Idoc Offender crews in support of the Maneuver Training Center. Reports to the Roads & Grounds Foreman duties include but are not necessarily limited to the following.

A Day in the Life

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • *Operates a variety of light equipment including, but not limited to: lawn and farm type tractors, truck mounted snow plows, dozers, rollers, Gradall, backhoe, and grader. Maintains equipment and vehicles by cleaning, oiling, greasing, welding, change tires and performing routine operator level preventative maintenance.

    * Operates a variety of hand construction and maintenance tools.

    *Performs routine duties such as cutting trees, clearing trails, seeding, weed-eating, mowing and employing various erosion control techniques.

    *Operates a variety of equipment for grounds and maintenance. Such equipment includes, but not limited to mulchers, mowers, scrapers, farm and other equipment as required in the accomplishment of maintenance and repair of as needed.

    *Coordinates and serves as resource person to others in work group

    *Perform grounds maintenance including snow removal etc

    *Facility building maintenance and repair interior and exterior

What You'll Need for Success
  • High school diploma or HSE (high school equivilency)
  • Some job duties may require the use of protective gear, the incumbent should be familiar with the use of the gear and its use in safety on the job.
  • Must have and maintain valid Indiana Drivers License
  • Must annually pass and complete the IDOC Inter-Agency Supervison of Out-Custody Work Crew Training course in order to supervise and IDOC inmate labor Crew       
  • Ability to work outdoors during inclement weather such as heat, cold, snow, and rain.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.
