Salary Statement:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900, but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

About the Job:

You will perform journey-level preventive maintenance (PM), repair, and minor construction on the facilities, equipment and systems, roads and grounds of the Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center (CAJMTC).  Performs as a working foreman that possesses the proper skills to perform each job under his or her purview. Responsible for supervision, scheduling and monitoring assigned personnel.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:      

  • Oversee and participate in preventive maintenance and repairs of the facilities at Camp Atterbury;
  • Prioritize and schedule preventive maintenance, routine repairs and amend to accommodate emergency needs;
  • Ensure job assignments and work orders are completed promptly, efficiently, courteously, and in accordance with established procedures;
  • Plan, train, and coordinate daily work of skilled tradespersons and/or other assigned personnel;
  • Order supplies/stock as needed and arrange transport of materials and equipment to job sites;
  • Maintain shop and storage areas clean, orderly, safe and secure;
  • Maintain accountability of materials, tools, equipment, vehicles, etc.
  • Inspect work in progress and upon completion for methods and procedures as well as meeting acceptable standards of the respective trades;
  • Ensure compliance, of self and assigned personnel, with all appropriate protective and safety requirements including, but not limited to: use of personal protective equipment (PPE); handling, storage & mixing of hazardous materials according to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS); confined spaces; and compliance with safety requirements in the use of tools, equipment, etc

What You'll Need for Success:

This person must have the following requirements to be considered for employment: 

  • Two years experience in a building or maintenance trade or completion of accredited college/vocational training
  • High school diploma or HSE
  • Electrical/HVAC certification preferred
  • Broad knowledge of electrical systems, carpentry, plumbing and painting trades. 
  • Ability to plan, schedule and supervise job sites. 
  • Ability to fill in for other foreman to ensure the operation of the department. 
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and other remediation plans and documents. 
  • Thorough knowledge of standard practices, processes, materials, procedures, and the ability to use tools and equipment of the various trades, such as carpentry, plumbing and electrical. 
  • Thorough knowledge of the OSHA standards, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), occupational hazards and safety precautions required of the various trade areas. 
  • Ability to plan and estimate project proposals in terms of equipment, man hours and costs. 
  • Ability to endure exposure to inclement weather.  
  • Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow. 
  • Ability to effectively give feedback, provide guidance or corrective action, coach, and develop employee skillsets. 

This role must satisfy the following requirements to continue employment: 

  • Must have and maintain a valid Indiana Driver’s License. 

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.
This role provides supervision for offenders and requires a high level of judgment and care.
