About the Job:

This position serves as e-Communications Specialist for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) and is responsible for agency internet, mobile app, video production, social media programs, as well as, tracking and reporting on all Communications programs. The e-Communications Specialist reports on progress and facilitates the agency’s integrated communication products and practices. This position reports to the External Communications Program Manager. 

A Day in the Life:

•    Coordinate and perform updates and edits to the INDOT website including but not limited to: text updates, menu management, graphic placement, new page creation, and document uploads
•    Manage day to day functionality of INDOT web request form including troubleshooting and bug reporting.
•    Maintain brand and graphic standards through education of all contributors using CMS or HTML to post onto the website.
•    Create and maintain project websites that proactively communicate status to key project stakeholders.
•    Review content biannually and ensure proper maintenance systems are in place to keep things clean, up to date and uncluttered.
•    Utilize analytical tools to review and report trending and make corrections and suggestions based on trend analysis for both website and social media
•    Oversee day to day operations of INDOT mobile app.
•    Assist in video production.
•    Assist with content development for social media.
•    Track results and create monthly and annual tracking reports for all agency communication efforts, for customer service and social and traditional media performance.
•    Participate in agency’s integrated branding solution, ensuring all aspects of INDOT standards apply properly to all internal and outbound communication devices from the internet to print to presentations to social media.
•    Assist the External Communication Program Manager to collaborate on critical communications with the Strategic Communications Director. 

What You'll Need for Success:

•    Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, Public Relations, Business Management or related field, or relative job experience.
•    Knowledge of Microsoft Office, website CMS, HTML, and Adobe Creative Suite is desirable.
•    Knowledge of video and photography equipment. 
•    Proven performance in visual storytelling.
•    Active working knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter social media platforms.
•    Possess outstanding interpersonal skills, able to build relationships and establish credibility.
•    Demonstrated understanding of web, mobile and social media communications needs and how to tailor messages accordingly.
•    Demonstrated strengths in writing skills, including correct English grammar, AP Style, punctuation, and spelling.
•    Possess strong organizational skills, detail-oriented project management abilities, proven capability to multi-task projects.
•    Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines and setting and meeting internal project benchmarks and deadlines.
•    Ability to work with INDOT customers and partners to assess needs and create and deliver solutions to satisfy expectations.
•    Demonstrated experience in developing various branding communications for targeted audiences.
•    Knowledge of best practices and emerging technologies with regard to communication tools for website, mobile, social media, and branding development.
•    Strong self-starter with an entrepreneurial attitude.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.
