About the Family & Social Services Administration (FSSA): 

The Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services manages the delivery of services to children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and has two overarching responsibilities: to facilitate partnerships that enhance the quality of life for children and adults with physical and cognitive disabilities; and to provide them with continuous, life-long support. 

The Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services provides services for individuals with developmental disabilities that enable them to live as independently as possible in their communities. BDDS assists individuals in receiving community supports and residential services using a person-centered plan to help determine which services are needed and who can best provide them. BDDS also monitors the quality of care and the facilities of those who are approved to provide these services in Indiana. 

 

Salary:   The annual minimum starting salary for this position is $ 30,082.00.

About the Job:

The Program Director 2 administers a program within a state agency and serves as a specialist in this area.  The Bureau of Developmental Disability Services - Service Coordinator monitors BDDS placements which support individuals with intellectual disabilities in attaining their highest level of independence through skill acquisition and enhancement, while ensuring their health and safety.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

•    The Bureau of Developmental Disability Services - Service Coordinator in the District BDDS offices monitor and facilitate the services provided to individuals with developmental disabilities in Indiana.  The BDDS Service Coordinator is responsible for these main functions:
1.   Intake
2.   Eligibility
3.   Level of Care
4.   Service Monitoring
•    Monitors BDDS placements which support individuals with intellectual disabilities in attaining their highest level of independence through skill acquisition and enhancement, while ensuring their health and safety. 
•    Partners with individuals, families, guardians, advocates, case managers, service providers and other community resources to ensure a cohesive support team for the success of each individual. 
•    Each BDDS Service Coordinator has a specific caseload and specialized assignment.
•    Formulates, interprets, compiles and disseminates, to applicable agencies and groups, all policies and procedures related to the program;
•    Reviews all incoming policy or procedural information for decisions on distribution;
•    Acts as technical consultant to the entire staff, clarifying and interpreting all procedures, providing references and resolving disputed issues;
•    Serves as a liaison between agency and other state and federal agencies;
•    Assists Director in evaluating proposed programs in topic area;

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment: 

  • Bachelor Degree in Social Service or health related field with a minimum one (1) year experience working with individuals with disabilities or qualifications as required in 460 IAC 6-5.
  • Extensive knowledge of provider agencies and their programs and services.
  • Extensive knowledge of generic community resources
  • Broad knowledge of an entire program area;
  • Extensive knowledge of all source materials and references including federal and state laws governing the programs;
  • Working knowledge of the organization of the agency and of state and federal agencies dealing with the programs;
  • Working knowledge of accounting and budget principles;
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, interpret and correlate very technical material;
  • Ability to develop and implement new principles and policies and discern any far reaching implications;
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing;
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with federal and state agencies.
  • Ability to travel.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.
