Salary Information:

This role starts at a base salary of $25,766.

About the Job:

In this role as a Stores Clerk, you will responsible for receiving and tracking Commissary orders at Wabash Valley Correctional Facility. You will also be responsible for distributing items that the offenders have ordered.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

  • Distribute orders to approximately 2100 offenders
  • Supervise four offender workers
  • Handle the physical receiving of commissary
  • Electronically deduct/reimburse offender accounts
  • Collect, alphabetize, number and scan approximately 2100 commissary orders
  • Process and maintain commissary documents

What We're Looking For:
  • One year full time experience in storekeeping or related experience. Accredited college training may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. 
  • Must participate in and successfully completed required DOC training programs
  • Must be able to work with and around offenders per DOC mission statement
  • Must be able to work mandatory/voluntary overtime
  • Must be able to work any shift 
  • Must be able to communicate orally and in writing (primary language English)
What You'll Need for Success:
  • Willingness and ability to perform work in Warehouse as needed
  • Ability to plan and organize work, and establish priorities
  • Ability to recognize and define problems, obtain and analyze factors thoroughly
  • Ability to work in Commissary as needed
  • Ability to prepare written reports
  • Ability to defend/protect oneself and others
  • Ability to operate mechanical controls and devices (i.e. hand-held radios, outer and inner perimeter gates)
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.
This role provides supervision for offenders and requires a high level of judgment and care.
