Salary Information:

This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $34,398.00.


About the Job:

You will perform journey-level electrical maintenance, repair and installation of electrical equipment and controls, using electrical power provided by the power company working with electrical circuits, motors, outlets, lights, wiring, etc., and appropriate tools and meters.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Serves as the licensed electrician on-site for construction and/or remodeling projects.
  • Obtains proper permits as required by law to carry out electrical work on construction or remodeling projects.
  • Regularly inspects and evaluates electrical and electronic equipment to ensure that it operates efficiently and safely, follows recommended maintenance schedule for cleaning and lubricating equipment, and maintains records on equipment status and maintenance.
  • May train lower-level maintenance personnel.
  • Studies blueprints and schematics and determines methods, materials, and equipment needed to complete the assignment.
  • Connects wires to plugs, switches, controls, light fixtures, traffic controls, appliances, motors, breaker panels, and switchboards.
  • Splices wires by stripping insulation from wire leads, twisting, clamping, and/or soldering leads together and applying insulating terminal caps using a variety of hand tools; makes underground waterproof splices.
  • Disassembles, repairs and reassembles or replaces defective electrical equipment such as plugs, switches, outlets, controls, ballasts, motors and appliances using hand tools, test equipment, and service manuals.

What You'll Need for Success:

  • Two (2) years of experience as an electrician or completion of accredited college/vocational training in electrical studies. 
  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE).
  • Must have a Master Electricians License.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Indiana Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to pass a CDL physical exam and acquire a CDL within 90 days of employment; thereafter, must continue to maintain CDL as a condition of employment.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds; and walk/stand for extended periods, climb ladders and structures, kneel and crouch.
  • Must have at least average physical strength with agility and dexterity.
  • Good color vision is required.
  • Ability to endure exposure to inclement weather.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.
