Salary Information:

Salary for this position typically starts at $34,398.00 annually.

About the Job

You will perform journey-level electrical maintenance, repair and installation of electrical equipment and controls, using electrical power provided by the power company working with electrical circuits, motors, outlets, lights, wiring, etc., and appropriate tools and meters.

A Day in the Life

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Serves as the licensed electrician on-site for construction and/or remodeling projects;
  • Obtains proper permits as required by law to carry out electrical work on construction or remodeling projects;
  • Regularly inspects and evaluates electrical and electronic equipment to ensure that it operates efficiently and safely, follows recommended maintenance schedule for cleaning and lubricating equipment, and maintains records on equipment status and maintenance;
  • May train lower level maintenance personnel;
  • Studies blueprints and schematics and determines methods, materials, and equipment needed to complete the assignment;
  • Connects wires to plugs, switches, controls, light fixtures, traffic controls, appliances, motors, breaker panels, and switchboards;
  • Splices wires by stripping insulation from wire leads, twisting, clamping, and/or soldering leads together and applying insulating terminal caps using a variety of hand tools; makes underground waterproof splices;

What We're Looking For
  • High school diploma or HSE (high school equivilency)
  • Two (2) years of experience as an electrician or completion of accredited college/vocational training in electrical studies.
  • Must have a Master Electricians License;
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s License
What You'll Need for Success
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles of electricity and electronics and standard methods, materials, tools, and equipment of the electrical trade.
  • Broad knowledge of the National Electrical Codes which typically apply to the work assignment.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical devices such as controls, switches, starters, transformers, motors, and panel boards.
  • Knowledge of the potential occupational hazards connected with electrical work and the safety standards and practices, which should be applied.
  • Skill in the use of the tools of the electrical trade.
  • Skill in the installation of electrical devices.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.
