About Branchville Correctional Facility: 

Branchville is an adult male, medium security facilility located in Perry County, Indiana.



The minimum salary for this position is $61,000 annually. On grounds housing is also a possibility. 

About the Job:

The Deputy Warden of Re-Entry is responsible for overseeing the design, establishment, and administration of the multitude of re-entry programs of Branchville Correctional Facility.  You will supervise a large, diverse managerial staff of treatment professionals, performing varied duties with minimal supervision.  Your goal will be to establish an effective re-entry process that leads to productive citizens, reduces recidivism, and enhances public safety.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Research, formulate, establish, interpret, and disseminate facility programs and policies for treatment of offender population.
  • Monitor, evaluate and modify program policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure soundness as well as compliance with DOC, ACA, etc. standards.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of offender educational programming, substance abuse programming, recreation, classification, and unit management.
  • Makes routine inspection tours of the facility & reports on equipment, cleanliness, sanitation & operating efficiency of the facility.
  • Provides input regarding facility staffing needs in Re-Entry areas to ensure effective establishment and modification as need arises.
  • Interprets policies, procedures & directives for applicability to the facility.
  • Reviews, evaluates & investigates, when necessary, incidents that have occurred within the confines or boundaries of the institution.  Incidents, reports & recommended actions are directed to the Warden.  May be required to impose disciplinary action on subordinate staff.
  • Develop community contacts and ensure positive, proactive relationship with the community to foster offender reintegration within the community
  • Represent the facility in public speaking engagements, explaining mission and goals to ensure the facility plays a vital role in the community
  • Supervise subordinate administrators in the delivery of their respective program areas, coaching, evaluating, clarifying and interpreting policies and program procedures, resolving disputed issues, disciplining as needed, and offering professional development opportunities
  • Acting Warden in her absence.
What We're Looking For:

You're an ideal candidate for this role if you minimally have eight (8) years of experience in public safety; plus two (2) years of experience in corrections, criminology, parole, probation, law enforcement, public safety, psychology, social work, business administration, personnel administration, or public administration; plus at least two (2) years of experience supervising staff in corrections. A combination of experience and accredited undergraduate and/or graduate training may be considered.

What You'll Need For Success:
  • Extensive knowledge of programming and re-entry tools for to help reduce recidivism.
  • Extensive knowledge of security practices & operations pertaining to a modern adult male correctional environment.
  • Specialized knowledge of Federal & State employment law and the Indiana State Personnel Department’s policy & procedure.
  • Thorough knowledge of the laws, regulations & court decisions affecting the Dept of Correction.
  • Must possess specialized, above average knowledge of DOC policy and procedure.
  • General knowledge of the principals of public administration.  Possesses the ability to supervise, plan, organize & coordinate the responsibilities & activities of facility staff.
  • Must possess strong supervisory skills
  • Ability to speak before professional & lay groups regarding adult corrections & facility programs.
  • Possession of above average knowledge of conflict resolution and crisis intervention techniques
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role provides direct supervision for one or more staff members.

If this is an Intermittent position, the position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
