Interlake State Recreation Area

Interlake State Recreation Area (ISRA), former coal mine land straddling Pike and Warrick counties, is a multi-use recreational facility focusing on off-road vehicle (ORV) recreation. Interlake is approximately 3,550 acres with nearly 100 miles of trails and 17 lakes (many of which can be accessed for fishing). The three areas of mining and reclamation create a variety of trail experiences for ORV enthusiasts, horse riders, hikers and mountain bikers. From steep spoil banks to rolling grasslands, man-made lakes and strip pits, Interlake offers a diverse array of topography and scenic views.  

 

Salary

This position starts at $9.15/hour.

About the Job

As a Seasonal Property Worker you provide friendly customer service while ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of areas used by the general public.  You will assist park guests with park information and regulations.  In this role you may focus on customer service and operational aspects depending on assignment and requirements described below. All property staff are responsible for contributing towards the safety operations and security of the property and guests.  To assist with the maintenance of a clean environment, basic cleaning duties may include sweeping, mopping, restocking and trash/litter pick-up.

A Day in the Life

Gate Attendants provide quality customer service at property, facility and/or campground gates.  Attendants are responsible for the collection of revenue from fees and permits, and cash/credit card handling duties.

Laborers work to maintain, clean and repair property buildings, grounds and facilities.  Laborers perform various  landscaping, mowing, and trimming of grounds; which may include firewood cutting, splitting and processing.  The design and maintenance of structures, signs and recreational trails are dependent on the features of the property.  Duties may include limited carpentry and plumbing.

What We're Looking For
  • Candidates shall have a high school diploma or GED or
  • One (1) year of work experience. 
  • Ability to traverse uneven terrain and stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
  • Ability to carry out assignments with general instruction and limited supervision.

  • This role should expect to work afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Individuals may experience working in potentially inclement weather.
  • Individual may be required to wear a DNR provided uniform.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.

 

Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:

This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
