Summary/Objective:

This position serves as a System Administrator for the Indiana Secretary of State's Office (SOS) and will provide technical support to the office and work directly with Enterprise and Divisional systems and technologies.The System Administrator position exists to support legacy technologies as well as participate in and learn new technologies and systems.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

This position will be responsibile for the following

  • Perform system software upgrades, including the planning, scheduling, testing and coordination;

•           Assists or performs activities related to system administration;

•           Performs workstation and server administration setup;

•           Performs data backups and recoveries, including assisting in disaster recovery;

•           Provides or contributes to documentation for new or upgraded system software and hardware;

•           Codes, tests, debugs, analyzes, evaluates and documents system software;

•           Assists in developing solutions and/or software and hardware enhancements;

•           Works with information technology staff, helping provide input and solutions to solve problems;

•           Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Three to five (3-5) years work experience development, implementation, system administration; or a Bachelors degree from an accredited university with four (4) years of work experience in the above referenceed areas.  Experience must reflect knowledge and use of concepts as well as experience working as a system administrator or developer in IT.

•           Specialized knowledge of information technology systems;

•           Working knowledge of software and hardware interactions with other components;

•           Basic knowledge in information technology equipment, operation and capabilities;

•           Basic knowledge in the use of tools and utilities to perform the system work;

•           Organizational and time management skills, and ability to prioritize and deliver to deadlines.

•           Knowledge in performance and tuning techniques;

•           Ability to solve problems effectively and efficiently with direction from higher-level information technology staff;

•           Basic knowledge of the business objectives and goals to evaluate the software products ineffectiveness;

•           SQL query, C#/.Net, ASP.net, VBA experience/knowledge preferred

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.

If this is an Intermittent position, the position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
