About the Indiana Department of Administration (IDOA):


IDOA centrally manages activities relating to state purchasing, the vehicle fleet, state travel, real estate leases, property disposition, and the Government Center Campus, among others. In addition to agency support, the department provides assistance to minority, women, and veteran business enterprises interested in state contracting opportunities. Through its activities, IDOA helps to ensure the smooth function of state government, finding efficient and effective solutions to government-wide needs. 

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $37,778 per year.

About the Job:


The Manager of Fleet Administration ​​oversees the administrative management of all vehicles owned by the State of Indiana which includes titles, vehicle registration, vehicle leasing, pool car rentals, usage reporting, vehicle surplus sales, and State fuel card administration and reporting.

A Day in the Life:


​The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

  • Manage the daily requirements of two or more direct reports to ensure responsibilities are current, and customers' inquiries are handled promptly and professionally.
  • Establish KPI's that will hold employees and own position accountable to results required by the State of Indiana.
  • Accurately monitor and report all vehicle purchases, vehicle surplus sales, and vehicle usage.
  • Accurately monitor fuel activities through outside purchases using the State fuel cards, as well as for monitoring and reporting fuel activity at all State pump facilities.
  • Provide assistance and professional customer service to all state agencies operating state-owned vehicles.
  • Ensure that the record keeping of all vehicle titles and registrations is completed without error and properly secured at all times.
  • Work diligently to ensure the smooth function of the Fleet Service Department of Administration, finding efficient and effective solutions to statewide fleet vehicle needs.

What You'll Need for Success:


This person must have the following requirements to be considered for employment: 

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience in business management.
  • Five (5) or more years of customer service experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of transportation operations and fleet management.
  • Extensive experience with web-based computer applications, Microsoft Office, and Outlook.
  • Ability to analyze operational data.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of organization skills.
  • Three (2) or more years of supervisory experience helpful.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role provides direct supervision for one or more staff members.
