About the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM):
Our mission is to implement federal and state regulations to protect human health and the environment while allowing the environmentally sound operations of industrial, agricultural, commercial, and governmental activities vital to a prosperous economy.  We issue air, water, and solid and hazardous waste permits that restrict discharges to environmentally safe levels. Staff members inspect and monitor regulated entities; provide compliance and technical assistance; monitor and assess air, land, and water quality; use enforcement actions as necessary to ensure compliance, and respond to incidents involving spills to soil or waters of the state.

 

Salary:
The salary for this position starts at $ 25,766.00  per year.

Introduction:

This Administrative Assistant position exists within the Compliance and Enforcement Branch, Office of Air Quality of the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.  This position reports to the Compliance Data Section Chief.  The purpose of the position is to effectively use all compliance and enforcement tools and resources available to improve air quality in our state by ensuring that all air pollution sources comply with all state and federal air pollution laws, rules, and permits while incorporating innovative voluntary compliance and pollution prevention approaches with the regulated community.

 In this role, you provide administrative support to the Air Compliance and Enforcement Branch by maintaining and ensuring the integrity of the applicable databases, researching, and preparing various reports for the supervisor, typing documents/maintaining files, preparing and filing various documents, responding to agency requests for reports and information about various areas of responsibility. You will also coordinate administrative functions with supervisors, administrative staff, and other professional staff in the branch and office.

In this role, you will work closely with your supervisor and can gain additional skills to further your career growth.
