About the Job:

In this position you will be responsible for the preventive maintenance and/or maintenance repair work and installation of electrical systems and/or electronics at Putnamville Correctional Facility. You will supervise a crew of offender workers following general instructions and standard practices of the trade.

A Day in the Life:

In this role you will:

  • Oversee and participate in alterations, repairs and general maintenance of Putnamville Correctional Facility.
  • Arrange for acquisition and transport of materials and equipment to job site.
  • Check materials to determine if they meet specifications.
  • Inspect maintenance projects to ensure repair work is being properly completed.
  • Supervise and coordinate a crew of offender workers in assigned work.
  • Provide on-the-job training for unique or special jobs as needed.
  • Ensure safety standards and precautions are followed by all subordinate workers.
  • Maintain work order log, keep time records of crew, and submit time reports.
  • Amend work plans as needed to efficiently complete projects.

What You'll Need for Success:

  • Knowledge of standard practices, processes, materials and procedures and the ability to use tools and equipment of the various trades such as carpentry, plumbing and electrical.
  • Knowledge of IOSHA regulations.
  • Knowledge of qualities and adaptabilities of various materials used in the repair of maintenance projects.
  • Effective communication, both orally and in writing.
  • Possession of CDL a plus but not required.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.
This role provides supervision for offenders and requires a high level of judgment and care.
