About the Edinburgh Correctional Facility:
The Edinburgh Correctional Facility is located in Edinburgh, Indiana on Camp Atterbury and was founded in 1991. Edinburgh is a minimum security facility that houses 320 offenders. They have approximately 44 work crews supporting Camp Atterbury and other community and state agencies. With these partnerships, they save the taxpayers of Indiana thousands of dollars every year.


The salary for this position traditionally starts at $37,518.00 per year but may be commensurate with education and/or experience.


About the Job:

As the Correctional Casework Manager, you will be responsible for the supervision of the correctional casework staff, including completion of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) assessments. You will also have an assigned caseload of offenders, acting as the initial point of contact for day-to-day offender case management issues which includes identifying and addressing needs such as providing referrals to employment, rehabilitative services, mental health programs, and preparation for re-entry. You may provide direct supervision and assist with the operations of the housing units.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

  • Provide immediate supervision to your Correctional Caseworker team for adherence to policy and procedure through the use of routine CQI assessments.  
  • Supervise, train, coach, and review the performance of correctional caseworkers assigned to the unit team, assess individual strengths and weaknesses, utilize regular evaluations and frequent informal reviews of staff performance in accordance with the standards, guidelines and policies of the Department and State Personnel Department. 
  • Assess each assigned offender's risks and needs utilizing the Individual Indiana Risk Assessment System (IRAS). 
  • Coordinate with all appropriate facility staff to address re-entry and release issues. 
  • Provide group and individual programming for re-entry and release as required. 
  • Coordinate with the classification department staff to make appropriate classification recommendations for offenders. 
  • Conduct unit orientation for newly received offenders.  
  • Maintain high security standards in the unit and facility.

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:

  • ​Possession of a High School Diploma or High School  Equivalent (HSE). 
  • At least two (2) years of work experience in social work, corrections, criminal justice, or related field. Substitutions: Each one (1) year of related education may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience. 
  • Within 90 days of hire, you must obtain the Indiana Risk Assessment System Certification through the Indiana Office of Court Services. 
  • Must test negative on all drug screenings.  
  • Upon hire, the ability to successfully complete all mandatory training including the DOC Supervisory Training Program, First Aid, and CPR courses. 
  • Ability to write records of offenders. 
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage the work of the staff. 
  • Ability to establish a working relationship with staff and offenders. 
  • Knowledge and ability to utilize conflict resolution techniques. 

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role provides supervision for offenders and requires a high level of judgment and care.
This role provides direct supervision for one or more staff members.
